It will show you "Last Updated Date". Soft LUD means status of case is not changed but they updated LUD, virtually means they touched your file.

There is something fishy. Its not possible that he could apply for 485 with the PD of September 2006 in June 2007 . Only people with priority date with June 2003 and earlier could apply. I know this because our PD is July 2003 and we applied only in July 2007. Please people stop this.
Since your PD is June 2003, you could have applied in June 2007 because in June Visa bulletin(released in May ) it moved till April 2004.

If you are stuck at Atlanta PERM backlog center , please email your case number and explain them that your application has been pending for a LONG time and request them to help us get out of this grave situation. Also, please post on this thread after you have sent an email so that others can be motivated to do the same. We need to send as many emails as possible to get any positive feedback. I know that DOL mentioned that they will start processing our applications soon, but we need to keep up the pressure from our end so that it has some positive effect.
I know most of the people on this forum are not in this situation ..... but let's see how many can come out of this selfishness and help others by emailing / phoning DOL Atlanta to help other brothers who want to file AOS just like them...... Not sure if anyone else has faced this so wanted to put this out: I own a home and have a loan on it since 2003 (I was on H1 when i took the loan), now that the ARM is about to adjust i am in the market for refinance.
There is however a question on all the loans underwritten by freddy/fanny asking for immigration status and if the answer is EAD the loan is denied. They even sent me an explanation of denial.....:confused:

Immigrating legally to the U.S seemed like a gold opportunity when I was offered to work here six years ago with an H1B visa. As a matter of fact, all my friends and family considered that it would have been crazy not to take advantage of the "opportunity" to live and work in the most developed country on Earth.
I would return to my country if we didn't have a nasty political turmoil and the social decay that comes with it. Yet, I feel that the days go by and our lives are entangled in this absurd situation.
you should have asked - is there anyone left here who has not given up. look at plus side - you are not from India / China - I would go to venezula under Chavez's rule in a blink (if I was single ) just for the pretty girls .. jokes aside --
first there is hope (when you first apply) - then impatience - then despair (as you count the lawyer / USCIS fees over the years) - then anger that nothing is happening - then bit of depression -- then FINALLY you attain NIRVANA -- the bliss (the money saved due to uncertainity helps) !!!! and you realize -- it is just a silly card.. if it has to come it will come. it will come when it has to and why worry about a card when economy in US is lethargic and around the world things are improving.
so have a backup - enjoy life - look at positive side (maybe you didn't buy a overpriced house because of the GC uncertainity etc) and don't worry ..LIFE is too short .

What a bunch of idiots, i swear this is WORSE than ANY of our home countries. Like I told my friend yesterday, atleast if the USCIS call center was based in India, the answers would have been consistent. They may have all been Wrong, but atleast they would be consistent.

Recently renewed NJ DL with EAD and expired I-94 (Paroled). Following documents were produced at Kilmer Rd DMV:
1) Current unexpired NJ DL
2) Passport with expired I-94 (Paroled)
3) EAD
4) SSN card
5) Address Proof (utility bill)
DL renewed until EAD expiry date PLUS 3 months.

Just a thought that there are other anti immigrant groups also visiting our website. We are frustrated and angry but all these comments that we are writing are also read by other people and will be used against us to make things harder. Also the general feeling is that American people dont really care or want to understand about GC. For them especially groups like NumberUSA etc want us out. So please stop feeding ideas into people's head without knowing facts. Assumptions are not facts.

I re-read the section and I think your interpretation is correct. All I-140 filed after introduction and approved before enactment should stand clear from this provision. If there is an I-485 petition filed along with such an I-140 that is approved before enactment of this act, then it will qualify for an immigrant visa whenever one is available under the old law.
Again one needs to run this interpretation through a lawyer to be absolutely sure.
Hmm so I was quite worried about good old Section 502(d)(2) at first, but after re reading carefully, this may not be terrible. I (and others?) might have pressed the panic button a little too quickly.

In this debate, it is important to consider what "America" really means:
It is not just tech. companies or the USCIS - it is every big, small and mid-size enterprise, school, hospital, university, firestation, state/federal govt etc. It is the local community in which we live, the neighbors we interact with, the folks at the check out counters, our children's daycare, and ofcourse it is our fellow American co-workers, supervisors and friends.
In the final cost & benefit analysis, I am just curious to understand how America stands to gain by preventing the free movement of high skilled labor and intellect across the country. How does it benefit by preventing individuals from getting a higher education or a promotion. It is already too late for most of us to give up at this stage of the process, so most of us will wait it out, and eventually get the green card. If it is going to be 5 yrs. from now, then why not now?
Perhaps the questions should be:
"What is America gaining by keeping high skilled individuals in this state of perpetual limbo"?
And
"What is the cost to America of giving out a Green Card to a high skilled immigrant whose petition to immigrate has been approved by the US govt.?"

Nebraska has issued only 2800 receipts for today...
How do you guys get this daily update.. going by this, it will take them 2 months just to clear first 2 days of july - even after assuming all receipts issued are for I-485 cases, which is far from truth!

I have mailed my 485 on july 16th and NSC recieved it on july 17th.My question is looking at the TSC processing times which says July 18th,is my application already preadjusted,485notice date is september 15th.Can anybody tell me how the processing date really works.

guys i think USCIS is not interested in giving EB 3 guys GC...
as mostly EB 3 guys r ppl with Bachelors (and less than 5 yrs exp) or who are stuck with EB3 due to there company (like me)...
EB 2 guys r mostly with ppl having masters degree from US...so i guess they will definetly get more preference than eb3...
I guess US wants to raise there economy by giving GCs...so that ppl more ppl will buy houses....
I hope something happens for EB3 also...but I guess in Oct bulletin PD for EB3 will b some month in 2001....

For some reason - they see heavey demand now and it may not be the case in next bulletin. Still they beleive its diffcult to predict any dates for EB3 before mid Sept. They are working and intention are there to help EB3 applicants. That leads to make me believe that dates for EB3 - India would move to somewhere Nov-Dec 2002 to Jan-Feb 2003 in next bulletin.

I got my EB2 Labor certified today, and now my lawyer is preparing EB2 140 as an interfile into my existing EB3 485.
Is this recommended or should we do regular premium 140 and request date porting once its approved?
If we do decide to do interfile now during 140 application. Is it advisable to do premium processing?

My attorney and company (both) received copy of Approval Notice. One thing I noticed is Priority Date on Approval Notice is my EB3 Priority Date( October 2003 ). I think some kind update (porting) has happened. I have not seen any change in LUD on my I-485. This is just to update all and hope this information may be useful to someone.
