I do not support this donor ONLY idea.
Also, Day 1, the FOIA initiative had a goal of $5K.
And without reason, the goal was increased to $10K.
So, pappu should not complain of not reaching the goal when he keeps increasing the goal.

We all felt like increasing the goal becasue out the 100 or so FOIA responses we got atleat we should be able to respond to couple of them. FOIA is not the only one needing money.

When USCIS will release the report which shows number of pending apps per country and overall. With that we can see how many numbers per category and per country are used.

Hi,
Does anyone has recently got I-485 approval after porting priority date from earliar EB3 filing.
My I-140 got approved 2 weeks back and based on priority date, I am current. Ny EB3 485 was filed in July 2007.
How long it is taking for I485 to get approved after I-140 approval when the priority date is current.

Guys,
I was very busy till today.
I'll call all the #s tomorrow and let them know how important is the CIR for legal immigration, and how I am not able to buy a house, or start a company, as I have no greencard inspite of waiting for 8-10 years. Not to forget I am from India and it is severely backlogged. Also we have jobs, so we're not taking away anything.
I have to be very brief. So please let me know if I'm missing any impo point.
Just follow what pappu has said on the first page. We need to stay on message.

I think there are many ways to look at it. Doing Free service , yes it is a form of Gandhigiri, but will that cause the lawmakers to recognize us and pass laws in favor o fus..I do not think so.
I think our situation is no different than people in South Africa in Gandhian times. How Gandhi fought for them is by writing and writing and pestering the Authorities to reduce unfair taxes on Indians in SA and to solve other problems they had like cannot ride in the same Trains/cars as Whites etc...., fighting for their rights in a Vocal but Non Voilent - non aggressive approach.
We, in this post , have equated Gandhigiri with - divide ur attention - Go Do MBA- be occupied with something else while u are retrogressed, furthur ur career/skills,,,etc I do not think that is what Gandhigiri is about i.e. doing something for the self, but instead do it for the community. In this case IV is our community and its leaders are doing the right thing for our cause and if we continue to support that by adding members, funds we will do a fair bit of gandhigiri towards our cause.

I called Rep Lamar Smith office. The lady who picked up the phone asked me we are getting lot of calls. She asked me are you in supprot of the bill? I told her yes. I also told her that I am having master's degree from USA. My children are top student but may not get admission in some of NJ medical college just because we did not get GC since last 7 years. So we need help from Rep Lamar Smith to make USA more competitive. She also wanted to know that from where I was calling.

You seem to be a guy from north India who dislikes anything remotely connected to south, or probably you are envious of the strides that south India has taken, anyways I do not care what YOU or Wadhwa says about the quality of education in some parts of the world.

Still USA is going to e attractive destination unless currency goes less than 30 rupees. Still USA is Top in innovations in medical, Biomedical and core products like Apple, Microsoft etc. India and China are going to to do service oriented jobs and hardly any big innovations. That is going to continue for next few years. Also survival is easy here compared to India as population is 4 times than USA and country is 1/4 of USA. It is a mere speculation and our wish that US citizens will wait in line for Indian visa. But it is a fact that we do not need to come to USA just for money as we can get excellent pay package in many industries in India and quality of life improved a lot on par with USA. Still population growth with less land will make lack of facilities for many people in future decades. Mainly water, food,land and energy shortage will be a problem in next decades and we need to wait and see how our government handles that.
May be our kids in future will have to wait inline for Indian Residency:p

There are many folks who have their GC process going on since 2001, 2002 etc. This BEC thing was a bane for many people and many of them squeezed past it and got approvals (2004 EB3 etc).
So nothing is fair in the immigration process. Suck the frustration and start involving yourself in IV activities. Start by becoming a contributing member (and updating your signature with it). If you do not have the courage to do it, then do not start new threads.

not completely true...if people had filed their i-140 and i-485 before retrogression in 2005 (that means perm was approved before september 2005), they got their gcs last year, people like me with priority dates in sept 2005 (due to the general incompetencies that we have all experienced) were able to file only in july 2007.
